Country Walks

During medieval times Hungercut Hall was an important meeting place for the heads of families who lived in the local area. As a result, over the centuries paths from all directions were worn that led to the Hall. Some have since been cut off, and some are now roads. Those that remain are quiet and tranquil, and can be accessed straight from the garden of the Hall. Other walkers are rarely seen.

On a blustery day, if you want to blow away the cobwebs you can take the high path and enjoy views over the beautiful Suffolk countryside, looking down onto fields of green and yellow and villages nestling between great woods. Or, if you prefer you can take the more sheltered route along the low path, lined by old oaks and ancient hedges which, incidentally, passes the back door of the Highwayman pub (only 20 minutes walk from the Hall). Remember to take a torch if you are likely to come back in the dark, there aren’t many street lights about!
A short drive away is Needham Lake, which is a popular destination, where there is an interesting and enjoyable nature trail. From the lake is access to the River Gipping Walk, which takes the route of the old tow path from Ipswich to Stowmarket.

There are lots of lovely walks to enjoy in the area, and we shall be pleased to point you in the right direction if you need any help.
