Places to visit

Beautiful Constable country in the Dedham Vale, on the Suffolk/Essex border, with it’s unspoilt rural scenery at Flatford Mill, so well encapsulated by the famous painter John Constable, is only 15 minutes drive to the south.

The medieval village of Lavenham, with it’s lovely old timber framed picturesque houses, is only 20 minutes drive to the west.

The Suffolk Heritage Coast, with it’s low marshes and reed beds (such as at Minsmere), sand and shingle beaches (for instance at Aldeburgh) and Nature Reserves (as at Orford) is only 25 minutes drive to the east.

Towns well worthy of a visit include the shopping town of Ipswich (20 minutes drive to town centre), the busy market town of Bury St Edmunds (25 minutes), the historic town of Colchester (25 minutes), the seaside resort of Felixstowe (20 minutes) the rural town of Diss with it’s fabulous Friday traditional auctions (20 minutes), and the lovely old town of Woodbridge with it’s little shops and the famous Tide Mill (20 minutes).

Great buildings worth visiting include Helmingham Hall, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and Framlingham Castle, all within ½ hours drive from us.

Perhaps the nicest place to visit is virtually on our doorstep. Needham Market, only a couple of miles away, is a lovely village. There are little interesting shops and plenty of old houses that line the High Street, along with some very inviting friendly pubs and places to eat.
